    Abstract

In Korea, Korea Train eXpress(KTX) started service in 2004 with the opening of the KyoungBu high speed train route between the city of Seoul and the south eastern part of Korea. Recently KTX service is expected to continue to increase more rapidly with the start of a new service between the city of Seoul and the south western part of Korea. The purpose of this study was to find ways to increase passengers’ satisfaction by determining which factors were most influential. The results summarized the following. Firstly, the overall satisfaction was calculated as 3.6 out of 5.0. Secondly, there were differences in satisfaction responses according to personal characteristics such as gender, age, education level and so on. Thirdly, the results of multiple regression analysis, which were based on seven satisfaction factors, showed that satisfaction with comfortableness was the most influential factor on overall satisfaction. Lastly, according to the results of multiple regression analysis based on personal characteristics, there were differences on influential factors per personal characteristics.
